Characteristics of our restaurant
Our commitment to tempura.
We use vegetable oil made from a proprietary blend of aromatic white sesame oil and rapeseed oil.
Tempura Asakusa SAKURA’s tempura is completely gluten-free, using no wheat flour at all. By using rice flour instead of wheat, our tempura is crispy and light.
Also, a special frying method allows the batter to absorb only about half of the normal amount of oil. It is a very healthy tempura. *1
And although we do not take halal recognition, we do not use pork and we use vegetable oil.
Attention to ingredients.
We purchase live prawns every day and cook them in the restaurant to provide you with the freshest prawns.
The squid is smoked with cherry chips and the charcoal is kneaded into the batter to make it aromatic.

For the green onions, we use Senju green onions, a traditional vegetable that is associated with the Asakusa area and offers sweetness and the original aroma of green onions.
The thick-sliced sweet potatoes are made from Beni Azuma, a sweet potato, and are deep-fried 10 minutes before the customer’s arrival time, taking 40 minutes to bring out the sweetness.
The shiitake mushrooms are served with truffle salt, and the pecoros with green tea salt.
Of course, we are particular about the beverages we serve.
If you are going to enjoy delicious tempura, be sure to pair it with sake.
Sake pairings will be served with tempura, including the famous Otters, super dry sake, sweet cloudy sake, sparkling champagne-like sake, and an original blend of sour sake and fruity enzymes.
For those who want to drink alcohol but are not that strong on alcohol, we also recommend the half-pairing, in which half the amount of sake is used.
And for those who can’t drink alcohol, we also offer unique non-alcoholic pairings such as homemade enzyme drinks, Japanese tea, ginger ale with lots of ginger, and craft cola.

Philosophy
In Japan, there is a culture of “Hanami” (cherry blossom viewing) where people gather under cherry trees in spring to eat rice and drink alcohol.
Tempura Asakusa SAKURA wants to be a restaurant that provides a fun hanami culture all year round.
Delicious tempura and conversation with the waiters and neighboring travelers.
It is not just about enjoying a meal, but an emotional moment.
Here is a little memory.
When I was in elementary school, my mother took me on a trip to Europe. The most memorable restaurant from this trip was a small, very ordinary restaurant in the Spanish countryside.
When we didn’t have smart phones and couldn’t read Spanish, the chef told us whether the dish was pork or chicken by morphological imitation.
We enjoyed our meal with the locals who were in the restaurant, laughing with our stomachs through their communion.
I would like to share with you some moments of “deliciousness” and “fun.

The first appetizer is a comparison of three types of tofu. Please start with the soymilk tofu, which allows you to enjoy the flavor of the tofu ingredients, followed by the sesame tofu and yuba tofu with jellied tofu, served in sequence.
The first course of tempura is all courses: senju onion with scallion salt, pecoros with green tea salt, and shiitake mushroom with truffle salt.
The second course of tempura is three kinds of seasonal vegetables for all courses.
The third dish is a tempura that matches each course. The ① course offers a comparison of squid, and the ③ course offers tiger prawns.
The fourth dish in the ② and ③ courses features thick-sliced red azuma and carrot kakiage.
Thick slices of sweet potato called Beni Azuma are deep-fried starting 10 minutes before the customer’s arrival time, taking 40 minutes to bring out the sweetness.
On top of this is a brightly colored carrot kakiage (deep-fried carrot).
This carrot is a popular dish because, despite the fact that it is not seasoned in any way, you can enjoy the sweetness of the carrot itself when eaten as is.
And the meal ends with a bowl of rice to finish off the meal.
For the ① and ③ courses, our original rice with egg is served, and for the ② course, wasabi rice is served.
